About Ruth...

Ruth is a Pilates and Movement specialist with over 25 years of teaching experience. Her love for Pilates was sparked during her Ballet training at The Royal Academy of Dance in London - realising how beneficial it was as a form of body maintenance and injury prevention.
When Ruth moved to HK to teach ballet in 1998 she took her Pilates passion to another level, training with Polestar and working at Pilates studio Isofit in Hong Kong for 7 years. Here she continued to learn from many visiting specialists in Pilates, Gyrotonics and physiotherapy.
In 2006 Ruth set up RH+Studio, providing pop-up Pilates classes to schools, Universities and various studios around Central & Wanchai. She taught for over 15 years at Hong Kong University teaching staff members and also provided classes as part of their work-life balance program.
In 2019 Ruth set up her virtual Pilates studio and now teaches all her classes online as well as leading retreats every few months in Chiang Mai.
Her caring nature is reflected in her teaching and she is well known for her attention to detail and making sure that every single person in her group class receives individual correction. People often say they feel like they're having a private class in a group class setting.

The four days:

Arriving on Friday, the retreat starts at 3pm with a meet & greet welcome drink followed by a tour of the resort.

We will then have an early evening wind down Pilates session designed to stretch and ease out tension after your journey!

Dinner will follow and we'll get to enjoy delicious, healthy Thai food!

Each day Ruth will guide you through an early morning Pilates class followed by breakfast outside at the Tamarind Sala - named so because it's right next to a majestic Tamarind tree!

Mid morning we will enjoy an additional activity - whether it's a facial massage workshop, a session with a holistic health coach, or a mindful doodling hour!

After lunch on Saturday & Sunday there will be a sound meditation for a small group - otherwise there will be free time for you to enjoy the resort. Perhaps reading a book by the pool or taking a dip, indulging in the resort's traditional spa services or spending some time at the resort's beautiful cafe which is within a restored tobacco barn.

We'll then have an early evening restorative Pilates class followed by dinner at Po Liang Bistro.

On our last full day we will go on a day trip out to a local day spa to enjoy Thai herbal steam and cold immersion. This is a fun day out and we'll have the day spa just for our group. We'll do some guided breathwork to help those who would like to try out the ice bath and there is a gorgeous salt water pool to dip & float in. We'll be served a healthy lunch as well as little snacks and refreshing drinks throughout the day!

Testimonials

""We’re all on a journey, and I joined Ruth’s May 23 retreat knowing I really needed some ‘me’ time. I got so much from it - regular Pilates sessions (my favourite was Pilates in the pool), a wonderful resort and delicious Thai food, solo bike rides around the surrounding countryside, and best of all a lovely supportive group of people each of whom I learned something special from. I’ll be joining again!" "

-Rachael Guan Hong Kong

""Your vivid and rhythmic instruction brought a mix of tranquility and mobility throughout the mind and body. Your passion in sharing Pilates and connecting with all of you shines along the way.""

-Chloe Po Hong Kong

""Ruth, thanks for organising this retreat. The Pilates classes were great, your instructions and demonstrations were easy to follow, even for somebody like me with less experience. It helped to soothe my sore muscles and sleep better at night. Without doubt, this was one of my best and most memorable trips ever.""
